little snippets!

After going back through our blog over the past few weeks, I realized I haven't updated in forever. I blame my hectic schedule over the past few months and general apathy with just about everything - working 60+ hours a week and having two jobs will do that to you! Luckily, I just started a *new* job about 3 weeks ago that I already love. Never say never but I never want to have to work retail again, I honestly felt like my soul was being sucked out of me every morning I had to wake up at 4 am (did I mention that before? 4 AM!) and then spend the day being nice to strangers even though it's the last thing I felt like doing. I'm not allowed to go into too many specifics about my new job (they told me I wasn't allowed to! Specifically "don't take pictures in your office and post them on Facebook. Just don't mention ANYTHING on Facebook") but it's definitely a more ~adventurous office job with benefits and PTO. Finally a grown up job!

Basically what all this rambling means is that I will now have time to start blogging again! Tricia and I already have a few ideas for new paper-based projects and blog features.

In the mean time, here's a few photos from my Instagram. Sorry not sorry they're all mostly cats.

Super casual office attire - beige cardigan, J.Crew chambray puff sleeve top and a necklace I made during my jewelry making phase

My "work" mug that I ran out and bought my first day so I could join the coffee crowd. I went back the next week and bought 4 more to keep at home ($4 at Target!)

summer jams

Over at  Ripped Knees,  Ana shared some her favorite summertime tunes (a+ choices btw!) a few days ago which inspired me to put together a summer playlist and finally get around to downloading some new music. So without further ado, here's what I've been jamming out to the past few weeks. Enjoy!

This entire album from Craft Spells is fantastic and perfect for dancing around in your room...which I may or may not have been doing all weekend.

My favorite song off of John Maus's new album, We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves. Confession: I usually don't buy albums off of iTunes but this one was well worth it.

What are your favorite songs and artists for summertime? I've also been digging the new Beirut album.

P.S. After some interest in the drawings I posted a few weeks back, I had a few postcard sets printed which are now available in my personal etsy shop. Use the code "FREESHIP" for free shipping on all purchases! I'm also available for cat portrait commissions.

maxi skirts

I mentioned in my last post how I suddenly find myself completely obsessed with maxi skirts (kind of late to that party...). I've never been much of a skirt person in general and have always had a tough time trying to make them look "right" without looking overdressed or overdone. Recently I went through my inspiration folder on my computer where I keep everything I find online that I might want to look at later and found quite a few of the same types of outfits - neutral colored chiffon maxi skirt with a basic white tee. It's simple but works. Kind of seems like the perfect summer outfit.

secret squirrel dresses

I've been on a dresses kick lately...perhaps making up from the lack of them I've bought in the past 6 months or so or maybe it's because that's all you can really wear during Florida summers. These two from Secret Squirrel's 2010 Summer Collection are especially fantastic.

almost may?

perhaps it's the humidity, but as soon as hot weather strikes, i'm suddenly at a loss for any creative inspiration. instead, i've taken to just looking at pretty things and watching a lot of whimsical films to help pass the time. here's a few bits of fun from the past few weeks.
