Sponsor Spotlight: Crowns Clothing

when our friend morgan offered to help sponsor our second issue of tilde journal, you can imagine how flattered we were as she is one very talented lady. she recently relaunched her etsy store with a galore of beautiful blouses and dresses, most equipped with ruffles and pan collars, which if you know me and tricia, are staples in our wardrobes. here's a few of our favorite items from morgan's shop, Crowns Clothing, which you can visit here.

Inspiration: Grizzly Bear Videos

Nothing inspires me to create quite like watching Grizzly Bear music videos. Each one is haunting, visually stunning, and a perfect accompaniment to the band's otherworldly tunes. I find that most videos these days are a little self indulgent at best, and downright awful most of the time, but Grizzly Bear gets it so right every time, and I kind of just want to hug them for giving me hope.

fuck yeah women artists

taking a page from yesterday's highlight of tricia's curatorial tumblr project, a project i recently started with a fellow art history buff (& graduate) is a tumblr focused exclusively on women's artwork. i was surprised to see there wasn't already one with the plethora of "fan" tumblrs out there and started this to help fill the void in my workday.

each day we focus the majority our visual content on one female artist, with past ones including louise bourgeous, caroline lathan-stiefel, kiki smith, sonya blesofsky, käthe kollwitz, and ana mendieta.

black and white photos of folk singers

one of tricia's side curatorial projects is a tumblr highlighting black and white photography of folk singers, both contemporary and classic ranging from pete seeger to joanna newsom. as a bit of a 1960s nerd myself, her tumblr is always a go to for a mini visual history lesson of my favorite musicians on and off stage and of course, major style inspiration.

here's a few selected photos:

Judy Collins and Joni Mitchell by Rowland Scherman

Bob Dylan, Donovan, and Mary Travers

Sandy Denny of Fairport Convention in 1972 by Keith Morris

tilde journal issue #2 update!

ventricular projects originally began as a collective effort to publish a zine of the work of many of our very talented friends. our first issue's theme was "cities & suburbs" & our upcoming issue's theme is "fanciful fun and furry friends."

here's a little sneak peek of some of the visuals from issue #2:
